Week 5

Learning to be analyze (Gabriela Orellana)

This week article was very interesting and I really like it. It present information about how technology influence in many ways the critical thinking skills of learners. This article was by Ken Bain. Intrinsic is the abilities that students acquire along the learning´s process where learners acquire new knowledge in different way. Sometimes students feel nervous or afraid to express something because their opinion can be wrong. in this case the teacher must implement activities Where students say their own critical thinking do not matter if they are wrong because everybody think very different. Also,Teacher must creative with topics very interesting for them. However, I believe that students can use computers for learn to make analyze. Sometimes make analises is very complicated because not everyone has this ability. Moreover, In the internet they can find a lot of exercises to develop this skill, but the motivation is very important because teachers must help students to feel comfortable if teachers let students feel free to thinks and make análisis students wouldn't be afraid to express themselves. In conclusion, As future teachers we must change our methods and leave behind the traditionalism where only the teacher is right because the student can also express himself without any problem.in fact, what teachers do is to make students memorises things and just complete book without letting students having a critical thinking.

  2. I agree with you Gaby! Sometimes critical thinking is not there because teachers do not provide the right instructions; I guess this is due to lack of information on how to foster this approach. Sometimes, it relies on the teacher' s perspective; I think some old fashioned teachers may not want their students to think critically fearing they may surpass them in knowledge.I think it is a shame but there are still people who think so!
Regarding students fearing to share their opinion because of mean classmates, I totally agree on that too. Sometimes it is not the teachers' fault at all; I guess we will always find problematic or better said “hyperactive" students in our classrooms; however, it does not mean teachers cannot do anything about it. I think that critical thinking goes beyond sharing your opinion... I think it wakes up a desire to keep learning.
